The new route (introduced in 2024) is just over 5 miles and heads west along the Monsal trail before climbing to Blackwell and dropping back down via a picturesque dale to the river Wye to return via Chee Dale stepping stones then back up to the trail through the Chee Tor tunnel before dropping back down to the river and following this until a road junction and double backing up to Millers dale for a final sprint finish through the natural finishers funnel created by the station platform.

How to Find the Race:
The start is at Millers Dale Car Park Tideswell enter SK17 8TD into your Sat-Nav or Google Maps. Look out for Fell Race signs.

Detailed Route:

Starting from the Station the route follows the Monsal Trail West passed the Lime kilns and across the bridge over the River Wye. Immediately after the bridge the route goes right at a sign post to Chee Dale.

Following this downhill on a lovely grassy descent, enjoy! because very soon you have to turn left, yup – up that hill!

Eventually you reach the Hamlet of Blackwell and on reaching the road turn right,  the road section is very brief because very soon after the campsite you turn right again to follow the bridleway back towards the Monsal Trail.

Once back on the trail, turn left heading for Wyedale Car park but double back to Blackwell mille cottages. Here you cross the footbride and then on to the Cheedale steppings stones.

Careful! You dont want to get wet. Dont worry, this was taken in winter! Follow the river path until a short climb back up to Chee Tor Tunnel.

Think your nearly home? Nope before the bridge go back through the gate down to the river again. Follow this all the way to the road before doubling back up the hill to the station. And your home. Phew!
